-LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!! There are books you trudge through "just because". Then there are books you race through. This is one of the books you take your time reading because you fall in step with the characters and story and feel of it so much you want to soak it in and never let go. I was sad to read the last page, as I so wanted the story to continue on and on! I look forward to the next writings from Amanda Hughes!!
-This book is like nothing I have ever read before and the main character is truly unique. India Allen is by far the strongest female character I've encountered (she even gives Scarlett O'Hara a run for her money.) Set during the Revolutionary War, India is truly ahead of her time. She boldly leads a revolution in Ireland and then in America--letting nothing stand in her way, including human emotion. Until the love interest, Quinn Calleigh, enters the picture. Amanda Hughes' Dickensian writing style only gets better and better. This story shows that hope and humanity can spring from the grotesque violence that war brings. The characters are colorful, the descriptions are vivid, and the plot is incredible.
-I just finished reading this novel, and after reading her other two books, I think this is her best. I love that it's based during the Revolutionary War. She remains historically accurate in every novel she does. Her descriptions are very dramatic and it kept me on my toes throughout. They're heavily researched, and her characters become your new best friends. I look forward to seeing more of her work. Believe it, or not, it gets better every time.
-This book is set during a time in history of political upheaval, violence and social unrest. These are strong willed people who deal with suffering and hardship on a daily basis. Amanda Hughes has managed to capture these people with the printed word. She is not only able to flesh out the main characters but the secondary ones as well. She has the ability to keep the book engaging and exciting. Set against the back drop of Revolutions in both Ireland and America it is a very fast paced adventure story.
-Looking for a fun, fast paced read? Look no further. One of the most enjoyable historical romances I have ever read, this book takes you from the rebellion against the English in Ireland to the American Revolution. Ms. Hughes has managed to create a cast of diverse and fascinating characters that keep the action going until the exciting and satisfying conclusion. I have enjoyed her two previous novels but this is by far the best.
